Description
Fewer than 100 bottles made each year. 5 years in Sherry Oak. A handcrafted ceramic decanter with 24k gold, platinum, and obsidian.
Clase Azul Ultra is the rarest expression in the Clase Azul portfolio — a bottle that takes two weeks to produce by hand before a single drop of tequila goes into it. The decanter is adorned with a 24k gold label, platinum accents, a sterling silver medallion, and an obsidian volcanic glass top. It is, by any measure, one of the most extraordinary objects in the spirits world.
Inside is equally serious. Double distilled from 100% Tequilana Weber Blue Agave, then aged for a minimum of five years in hand-selected Sherry Oak casks. The result is a tequila with the depth and weight of a fine aged spirit — not a standard extra añejo, but something closer to a great aged Cognac or Sherry-cask Scotch in its complexity and finish.
With fewer than 100 bottles released annually, this is not a bottle you find — it finds you. If it’s available, it warrants serious consideration.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Deep amber-mahogany with exceptional viscosity.
- Aroma: Dried dark fruit, vanilla, toasted oak, caramel, and a subtle agave earthiness underneath.
- Palate: Full-bodied and silky. Rich notes of cherry, dark chocolate, vanilla, and oak spice. The Sherry cask influence is pronounced and elegant.
- Finish: Exceptionally long, warm, and dry — with lingering oak, dark fruit, and a whisper of smoke.
The Decanter
Each Clase Azul Ultra decanter is handcrafted over two weeks by artisans in Santa María Canchesda, Mexico. No two are identical. The bottle itself is a collector’s object independent of what’s inside — which is saying something, given what’s inside.
