Description
John Walker & Sons King George V is Johnnie Walker’s most prestigious limited expression — named in tribute to King George V, who granted the Royal Warrant to John Walker & Sons in 1934, and commemorating whisky styles from the early 20th century by incorporating rare whisky from distilleries that were operating during the king’s reign.
The King George V blend includes whisky from distilleries that operated during George V’s reign (1910–1936), some of which no longer exist — ‘ghost’ or ‘lost’ distillery stocks that cannot be replicated. This gives the expression a historical dimension beyond simply premium blending: it is, in part, a document of what Scotch whisky tasted like a century ago.
