Hibiki 21 Year is Suntory’s most acclaimed blended whisky: aged malt whiskies from Yamazaki and Hakushu combined with Chita grain whisky, matured in American oak, Spanish oak, and rare Mizunara Japanese oak, producing a whisky of extraordinary complexity recognized by multiple World Whisky of the Year designations. The liquid inside this bottle is identical to the standard Hibiki 21 Year.

What distinguishes the Mount Fuji Limited Edition is the bottle itself. Released by Suntory to commemorate Mount Fuji’s addition to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 2013, the bottle features a hand-painted image of Fuji by Japanese artist Tsuguharu Foujita, with 24 facets representing the 24 seasons of the traditional Japanese lunar calendar — the same 24-facet design that distinguishes all Hibiki bottlings, here elevated for this commemorative purpose. It is a collector’s presentation that adds visual and cultural significance to an already exceptional whisky.

The Bottle

The 24-facet design of Hibiki bottles represents the 24 micro-seasons (sekki) of the traditional Japanese lunar calendar. The Mount Fuji edition features a painting of Fuji by Tsuguharu Foujita, a French-Japanese painter known for his incorporation of traditional Japanese ink techniques into Western-style painting. Each facet catches the light differently, making the bottle as much an object of beauty as a vessel for the whisky.
