Description

Añejo. 1942. Don Julio — the most gifted and celebrated premium tequila in America, named for the year Don Julio González founded his first distillery and aged a minimum of 2.5 years in American white oak barrels — nearly twice the legal minimum for añejo tequila.

Don Julio González planted his first agave fields in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco in 1942 at the age of 17 and went on to revolutionize premium tequila production by introducing the concept of spaced planting — giving each blue agave plant room to grow to full maturity rather than crowding them together for maximum yield. This attention to agave quality over quantity is the foundation of the 1942’s character.

The extended 2.5-year aging in American oak adds caramel, vanilla, and toffee character to the highland agave’s natural sweetness, producing the smooth, dessert-like profile that made Don Julio 1942 the definitive celebration tequila of the premium spirits category.
